Shaw's Cove Pump Station

Laguna BeachThe lift station construction is going well. The roof is complete, the electrical and generator systems have been installed, and the new force main has been connected. Testing of the individual components will begin next week. The lift station will be tested as a pumping facility the following week. The new station will be on-line by the end of June. Construction of retaining walls, final grading, and landscaping will be completed by August. Beach access will be maintained throughout the project.

City Report: The contractor is actively working to install the structural framing for the roof to lay out the electrical and mechanical equipment. The building’s walls have been finished. Concurrently, cut-and-cover trenching for installing high voltage electrical conduit at Fisherman's Cove has been completed. The new electrical controls system supplying emergency power to Fisherman’s is also underway.

Shaw's Cove Pump Station Upgrades Continue

January 3, 2008 The contractor was able to complete pouring the remaining portions of the underground structures forming the wetwell and drywell. The City was very fortunate to successfully complete the pour before the upcoming storms as days lost to weather are now regained while the newly set concrete requires several days to cure.

Shaw's Cove Work Continues

City Manager Friday Update: Shaw’s Cove Lift Station Status – The contractor has installed a well-built temporary beach access structure. Access to the beach will not be restricted. Utilities have been located and the installation of shoring will begin next week. The lift station will remain in service during the demolition of the upper-half of the old lift station. Control systems will be temporarily relocated and demolition of the old station will begin after Thanksgiving.
