And it's just in time for the holidays.
The repair of the North Coast Interceptor in the vicinity of Nyes Place has started. The first step is in the installation of concrete K rails on each side of the median lane so that the above-ground bypass of that two million gallon sewer line can be accomplished. The bypass will need to be in place the entire three months of the construction.
Update November 16, 2007: Friday Updates – North Coast Interceptor at Nyes Place – The difficult task of installing traffic control down the length of the project will be complete this week. After much coordination with business owners and Saint Catherine’s School, alternate parking on Cardinal Way and Victoria Place has been arranged. Parking information maps can be viewed on the Water Quality Department’s website at http://www.clbwq.net/ and click on the “NCI Traffic and Project Information”. The 24-inch transmission main will be potholed this week. This is the first time the pipe has been exposed since it’s installation in the early 1980’s. The material type will be confirmed and the bypass will be detailed based on the observed field conditions. In the next couple of weeks, custom-built fittings will be fabricated for the bypass tie-ins, concurrently, the bypass piping will be installed between the ends of the project.
