Picnic Beach Park Reopens On July 1st
On July 1, at 12:00 noon the city council will be rededicating Heisler Park for public use. The festivities will commence at Picnic Beach on the north end of the park. While most of the park will be reopened at this time, the stairs leading down to Rockpile Beach will not be completed until about July 12. Some areas of the park will be blocked off to protect the new landscaping during the Fourth of July.

Heisler Park - Picnic Beach ALMOST Complete
The scene from the viewing stand at Picnic Beach. Just Grand.
From behind the viewing stand.
Still under construction is the new access ramp to Rockpile Beach. Heavy rains this winter, with accompanying mud, delayed this ramp's construction.
That sky-hook is back. It's the only way to get debris up from the beach.

Heisler Park Will Rival The Montage Grounds
Only kidding folks! In reality the park, when completed, will rival the grounds of the Montage Hotel. The new restrooms, both new and improved access to the beach and improved picnic grounds will look just as good as any park in the world. The city is hoping for a June completion. The only major construction to be completed is the new walk-way to Rockpile beach. What with the rains and mud this year we will be fortunate for a June re-opening.

What A Fine Mess You Got Me Into
Boss: "So how do you plan on getting it back up on the bluff?"
Operator: "Oops."
The contractor layed down a temporary 3" thick concrete pad above the old access for a crane that lifted the machine down to it's current location and then will again use the crane to lift the machine back on the bluff once the old access steps are removed.
