On Saturday, May 10th, from 8 a.m. to noon, Tierra Verde Industries and Waste Management of Orange County will offer free compost to Laguna Beach residents. The compost will be available for pickup at the Forest Laguna Canyon Parking Lot on the corner of Broadway and Forest Avenue (across from the Festival of Arts grounds). This is a self-service event, so residents should bring a shovel and a container for the compost. The available supply is usually used up early in the day. The compost is a rich, organic soil amendment that consists of composted, recycled green waste collected as part of the City’s residential recycling program. Last year, residents diverted 3,772 tons of green waste from entering the landfills.
