It was suppose to be a straight forward and easy hydrant replacement. The job was planned to be completed before 5 AM. When they went to turn off the water line to the hydrant they discovered that it was leaking. So they had to replace the shutoff valve. From what I could see from Main Beach it looked as though the surf from Thalia to Brooks Streets was really nice. They were surfing on the south side of Pelican Rock. You don't see that often.

This machine augers a deep hole then they lower the auger one final time and as they slowly raise the auger back up they pour concrete into the hole. Concrete travels in the line at the right to the top of the auger and down into the hole.  There is a couple of more steps but really it's done!
