William Wendt - The Mantle of Spring, 1917

Laguna Beach: William Wendt - The Mantle of Spring, 1917William Wendt (1865-1946) was an American landscape painter. He was called the "Dean of Southern California landscape painters."

Wendt was a founding member of the California Art Club, along with his wife Julia Bracken Wendt, and served as its president for six years.

Wendt built his studio in Laguna Beach, California. A Laguna street, Wendt Terrace, bears his name.

The Mantle of Spring is currently on display at LACMA, Art of the Americas Building, 3rd floor.
