WHAT IS THIS?!?!?! SOME KIND OF APRIL FOOL'S JOKE?!?!?!? Just kidding, very nice.
I've been out looking for some real wild flowers and none can be found. Even the wild grass in the park is puny. So I take whatever I can get.
Those blue-purple flowers are called "Sea Lavender(Limonium Vulgare)". They tolerate(obviously)the salty conditions of coastlines. These are not native to Laguna Beach, but are native to northern European coastlines and marshes.I believe these and many other flowering plants like the "Red Hot Poker"(Aloe arborescens)also in the photo above, were planted along the banks of Laguna's beaches during the early to mid 20th century.
