Brooks Street Surf Contest

It got better but not by much. I showed up at 10AM and there were no judges, no organization, nothing but maybe a dozen surfers in the water and not much surf. Oh and maybe 50 spectators.

I left. Early.

Entertainment Writer To Judge Art

I love these ONE person juried art competitions. Doesn't sound fair to me. I usually can't stand committees but when judging art it would be nice to have different points of view on what is good art.

The Arts Commission is currently accepting applications to the annual Juried Fine Art Competition. The competition is open to artists residing in Orange County and 18 years or older. Two-dimensional works measuring no more than 36” x 36” should be submitted on disk accompanied with an entry fee of $20 by September 12, 2011. The competition will be juried by Richard Chang, the Arts and Entertainment writer for The Orange County Register. An honorarium of $1,000 will be awarded to the first place winner. The program is funded by the lodging establishments and City of Laguna Beach.
