Intended Consequence
I parked the car.
I walked back to the sign in order to read ALL the rules of parking in Laguna Beach.
Too late.
The car was towed.

Wild Isn't It?
The rains this year have the hills blooming nicely. Travel the canyon road from end to end and it's nothing but wildflowers. If I thought I wouldn't get a ticket I would spend all morning along the northern section of the road photographing the hills and the wildflowers.
I hope you commuters are enjoying the view and not texting the world what you are seeing.

This One Doesn't Need A Picture
What: Grand theft
Where: 200 block Wave Street , Laguna Beach, CA, 92651
When: 9:29 a.m. , Monday, May 03, 2010
Description: A resident reported a refrigerator stolen. The refrigerator had been in the alley for cleaning, but plugged in in the backyard. Its parts were also in the backyard. Someone took the refrigerator and parts, leaving a note for the resident.
Can't you just picture this? I can.
Of course the obvious question is: Why was the fridge in the alley where kids could get into it? Not very smart. Deserves to be stolen.
Are you, like me, wondering what the note said?

To Hell With It. Sell!
Go back to late 2008 and read about the owner of this property and their story of trying to do something for the good of the artists and make some money too. It didn't work out. The property is now for sale.
Would love to hear the seller's story but even when they were first presenting their ideas to the Planning Commission they weren't very forth coming in trying to get community support. In other words: "No Comment." was their usual replay to any questions.
Are there any winners in this situation? No. Hell we can't even get a new building for the lifeguards.
Here's another developer stuck in approval hell. Though I think he only has himself to blame. After all he TRUSTED a politician. Maybe even more than one.

Vacation Rentals Up 17%
I love statistics. Whatever you want to say you can twist the numbers to get a statistic you like. The OC Register is quoting a statistic that shows vacation rentals up up 17% over last year. What was last year's numbers? How many rentals does it take to show a 17% increase? In this small town 1 rental could equal 17%.

Council Has Busy Week Ahead
The City Council will be having a Budget Workshop tomorrow, Tuesday, at 3:30 PM. A regular City Council meeting at 6 PM tomorrow night and then on May 8th at 9 AM a Joint Meeting of the City Council, Planning Commission and Design Review Board.
Our Saturday mornings are bad enough, what with the farmer's market and the weekend lagunans meeting at Zinc, now we have a joint meeting at city hall. Best to get downtown early if you want to park anywhere near the Zinc. Better yet why don't you take the bus? It stops right NEXT door to the Zinc.
That will be the day!

You Suck Period!
Catching these bozos running red lights is a no brainier. Most drivers feel no guilt that they're risking lives with their actions. It's not even a challenge to catch them. They just don't care. That's why I always leave the license plate exposed. Now you know who they are. Just maybe it's a neighbor.
