Yes, this water is laden with the runoff pollutants we call TOXIC SOUP, but it also transports sediment, and in that natural process is sand. The sand that our starved beaches need for replenishment. Urbanization, by covering over inland soil, reduces that sediment transportation potential tremendously. So browsers need to understand that this sight, and the much larger plumes observed at creek mouths like Aliso do have a positive component. The Aliso Creek Watershed is now 75-80 percent impervious surface due to OVER-development, and the County Beach and parking lot there will be non-existent in 50 years because of erosion, too much runoff, not enough sedimentation---Not much time in ecological terms. Nature (major rainy events) will eventually recreate the historical estuary as long as the County doesn't intervene. Even the PCH Bridge there is a candidate for major removal and improvement. It's too low, antiquated (Built in 1932). It may need to be reconfigured (moved and made higher) because of the erosion at the mouth.
