Council Meeting Tonight

Laguna Beach: Aliso Beach From Foot BridgeDon't worry the council is giving you a 5 minute grace period so late comers will not be punished. Wait that doesn't make any sense since it's the council members that are continually late for the meetings. Will someone please remind the council that the meeting starts at 6 PM. This is their idea. If they can't make it at 6 PM then maybe we can start it at 6:05 PM. Grace.

Foot Bridge To Be Painted

Laguna Beach: Laguna’s Only BridgeFrom City Manager's Weekly Report:

Aliso Creek Bridge Painting -- Caltrans will begin painting the bridge over Coast Highway at Aliso Creek beginning Monday, May 4th. The work is expected to take two weeks during with time there will be various lane closures. In order to expedite the work and to allow the shorthanded Caltrans crews get this work done before the summer, City crews will be assisting with the traffic control.
Caltrans is short handed? Now there's a flash. And it will take TWO weeks. I can hire an out-of-work painter and he or she can probably do it in two days. No wonder this state is in the mess it is. Maybe the politians should do the painting. No it needs to be done by summer. Can you imagine 100 politians getting anything done -- ever? And who would be in charge? In charge? In charge? Forget it. Just drive up the canyon and hire two day-laborers. Then point them at the bridge and watch efficiency at work.

Does anyone know why this thing got built in the first place? It only serves about a dozen homes. Weird. Must be politics and money, mix well and serve.
