Offical Patriots Day Parade Photographer Doug Miller At Work
Doug Miller, a long time resident and artist, was the offical photographer of the Patriots Day Parade. He earned his keep this day.
The photo was taken with Doug's back to the camera for a reason. We photographers do not like to have our picture taken. We know it's a double standard but you'll just have to live with it. We do.

Bird Watchers Delight
Whenever we have a good on-shore wind, like yesterday, the pelicans and gulls love to fly up and down the coast. The pelicans are especially fun to watch because they keep very close to the water and when they fly past Monument Point you can get some good photos of the large, and for same strange reason graceful, pelicans flying below the point.

Hotel Wants City To Spend $31,829 For The View!!!
This Stinks! This is on tonight's Council meeting adgenda. It's there to keep the Inn at Laguna happy. If they want a better view let them pay to move the sewer lift station. It's just crap! Item 17 on tonight's adgenda:
DESIGNS FOR SEWER LIFT STATION, LIFEGUARD HEADQUARTERS AND PUBLIC RESTROOMS AT NORTH MAIN BEACH Proposal to provide a new sewer lift station at Main Beach and to award contracts for modification of the design of new lifeguard facilities and public restroomsActually the total cost is $40,409. Do we have that kind of money anymore? $40,409 for TWO FEET? Crap I tell you. Crap!
Recommendation: (1) Direct staff to modify the design for new lifeguard facilities and public restrooms by lowering the buildings about two feet and constructing a new sewer lift station adjacent to the proposed lifeguard and public restroom facilities; (2) Authorize the City Manager to amend the contract with Whitfield Associates to include $31,829 to cover the cost of modifying the designs for the lifeguard and public restroom project; and (3) Authorize the City Manager to amend the contract with Christopher Joseph and Associates to amend the Environmental Impact Report for the project for the amount of $8,580.

Boardwalk To Get New Boards
From the City Manager's Weekly Report:
Main Beach Boardwalk Reconstruction – Next (This Week) Wednesday, the City’s contractor will begin mobilizing for the reconstruction of the Main Beach Boardwalk. The project includes replacement and rehabilitation of the entire length of the boardwalk as well as new structural elements to strengthen the boardwalk should storm surges occur. The construction will take place in phases, however lengthy sections of the boardwalk will be closed while construction is being completed in those areas. The project is scheduled to be completed by May 22.It's not clear whether all of the boards will be removed at one time or they start at one end and work slowly to the other end.
Will we get a storm or two during this reconstruction process? You betcha'.

No Parking Downtown But Are They Buying Or Just Relaxing?
Had a meeting at Chapman Univ. this morning and on returning to Laguna I found myself, like all those tourists, searching for a parking space. It took 15 minutes only because I was stuck on Ocean Ave waiting for the light at PCH. Parked on Boardway east of the bus depot.
Checking out some stores I found them nearly empty. The restaurants were doing very good business but all others not so good.
Idea: Let restaurants cater to customers at the beach. Restaurants are big business in Laguna but with limited seating they can only serve so many but letting them deliever to the beach has no limit. So can the restaurants do this now or do we need to get the council to make it OK?
